Title: Be a Bad Boy
in Don’t Read in the Closet Volume One anthology
Author: Lee Brazil
Genre: Contemporary / Gay Romance
Devyn Strake’s tattoos and piercings are sexy as hell, but what really attracts Sully Moore’s attention is his new neighbor’s tender care of his infant son.
Devyn shouldn’t let his attraction for his handsome neighbor distract him. He’s in trouble, and he has to make baby Kail his chief priority.
How does a good cop find love with a bad boy in trouble?
This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group’s Hot Summer Days event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.
Devyn Starke is a divorced young father. His ex-wife, Kayla is supposed to bring his one-year-old son, Kail to him for his visit, but she doesn’t show up. Devyn goes over to her place, but he finds there only Kail, alone and exhausted from undoubtedly crying for hours. He takes Kail somewhere safe, while his father works on appealing for full custody for Devyn.
Sully Moore is Devyn’s upstairs neighbor and when Kail gets ill, he doesn’t hesitate to help.
The story is pretty good, but it is too complex for a novella.
Inconsistent but sweet.
